The adjuster pot is plastic but there are high voltage connections around it so the homemade wooded screwdriver gave me peace of mind. I the adjusted the bias using a piece of Popsicle stick that I had trimmed to fit the bias adjuster. The reading on the multimeter will become steady after the amp is warm. You will then turn on the amp and let it warm up. Set the multimeter to the lowest mv setting 200 will work but make sure you know where 40 mv is on the scale.
You do not want to burn out a transformer by not having a load on the amp. Next make sure that your speaker is still connected to the amp.
I then clipped a second jumper to the large ground nut on the chassis and clipped the other end to the negative lead from my multimeter. The jumpers have alligator clips on each end and I clipped one end to R20 and the other end to the positive lead from my multimeter. When I biased my SCXD I bought a set of 12" jumpers at Radio Shack.
